I just got 8 hens, about 4 inch's on height . I took care of father in laws chickens for a couple of years, under His supervision in my early 20"s. I'm 50 now just now a first time chicken owner. I could use all the help that I can get.

Welcome. You need a hardware cloth apron high enough to cover that gap. Where are you located?

It's going to be challenging covering that gap down so low, working from a wheelchair, James. You don't have anyone to help you? What's the ground like? Sandy, rocky? Do you get much rain?

Here is what we did with our dog kennel chicken run, however it would be near impossible for you to do this with out help. Hopefully you have someone that can help you. Whole thing including the roof wrapped in 1/4 in hardware cloth.
