It's not a good idea. They may be upset or embarrassed or not want to be identified in public.

I wanted to check up on some old friends from 20-30 years ago and searched for their KIDS' names on facebook. I found 3 who then let their moms know I was looking for them and then I gave them email address so they could contact me.

i haven't heard or seen my half brother in 23 years and i found him on myspace. found some highschool friends on myspace and most my friends and senior class on facebook i haven't talked to many in 15 years. i'd check both of them cuz tons of people use them.

When I first got married Bill and I bought a computer. While he worked all night at the hospital I went home after work and searched for my dad.

It took me 10 months. I also found word of my sister, but she didn't want to meet us.

I lost my dad just before Bill, but I got to go back to Oaklahoma to meet him and my long lost brothers and sister.

To tired to really give enough info right now, but if you need some help tomorrow, pm me. I can even give you my # and tell you how I did it.

OH and all free and no facebook or myspace. But does take a little work.

I think it is pretty unlikely that anyone here would know the person. There are several hundred million people in the US, and 70,000 here, of which, I think only a very small proportion post on the bb regularly enough to see your post.

Unless there's quite a bunch of people here from your home town, I don't think it's a likely route. You never know, those are just the odds.

If you know where they were living previously, try searching on one of the high school reunion sites for graduates with that last name. You may have to search several high schools in that county/area, but it can be done. A guy that was in the same Army unit with my Dad contacted me about six years ago looking for my Dad, and that's how he found me/us/him.

If you know any of their relatives' names, you can search those, too.

Good luck!
