Thank you - I will give it a try this weekend.

Another reason I have put off doing the vent sexing is that I am worried that I may upset the geese - I don't handle them at all and they are very friendly, they always follow me and come to see me anytime I'm around - don't want them to start fearing me.

Should I get them all into one location and then remove them one be one - band per my results and return to the flock. I plan on breeding and raising Geese and ducks so vent sexing is a skill I must learn

I would like to add - I am sorry for the loss of the OP's Goose and I am not trying to hijack this thread - the subject just allowed be to ask the qestions that were on my mind

Yes, get them corraled in a very small area so there is no chasing to catch them. If they are tame, catching them and handling them will scare them, but it will be very temporary. They might glare at you for the rest of the day, but bring out nice treats a couple of times and all will be forgiven.

X2 Geese will often hold a grudge for a little while, but they do get over it.
