I have a lot of wheat berries I've been storing in 5 gallon buckets for about 10 years and I poured some into another 5 gallon bucket, soaked and rinsed several times and they don't seem to want to sprout. They have a bad smell. I'm wondering if they are bad. I gave some to my birds and they seem to like it.

Properly stored wheat will last for decades. In water, they should start to sprout in five days. You could go six to be sure. You could feed the berries even if they won't sprout, they just won't be as nutritious as sprouted.
