Trying to talk DH into another puppy! (GSD)

Don't do it. Don't do it until your current dog is at least 18 months old.

Your dog still needs dedicated training. You will find when you do get another dog that 2 dogs are a lot more than twice the work of one dog. They mess up more, shed more, and are harder to work with than a single dog.

As a breeder I would not sell another puppy to someone who is not VERY EXPERIENCED until their current puppy is AT LEAST a year old.

Hey! I thought of another one!
Jax can't finish one batch of his homemade food before it has to be thrown out. Two puppies could! Less waste!

(Yes, I could just make less at one time, but shhhhhhh!)

Actually I'm just in temporary infatuation with this pup. He's darker than Jax, with the same ring around the collar.

DH says we have to wait until their other sire has a litter with a female that we BOTH like. It's gonna be hard, because out of their twelve females, DH likes some and I like some; just not the same ones!

I, too, am a 'breeder' and I disagree with the one-pup-at-a-time theory -- our puppies love being a part of a 'pack' and so do we ---
my husband takes a puppy to obedience class and I take the other one -- twice the fun for everyone --
Go for it!

Well, DH says I have to wait for the other combination and at least until Christmastime when I'll have my christmas money from Dad.
The breeder has a female that's pregnant right now, due at the end of September. She's one I really like. The sire would be the breeder's other male, not Jax's sire. The pups would be ready to go end of November, so maybe.....
On the other hand, Jax's dad sires some really dark pups. We both like that. We call Jax our stealth puppy. Get him outside at night and you can't even see him coming.

We just spent the morning with 6 GP and those big eyes and that sweet face would melt anyone, even if they had a huge mess of them hanging around . . .every little boy needs a brother!!!!

I would wait. Wait until Jax is completely trained and trained well, or he could learn bad behaviors from the new puppy, and vice versa. Do lots and lots of research, Google 'getting second dog/puppy' and do lots of reading, both the pros and cons.

Oh sigh. Puppy fever, such sweet misery!

Yeah, ain't it though.
It's just Jax is so amazing. I can't help but think two would be double the fun.

I did have another concern about Jax. Yes, I'm a worry-wart. Gonna make a seperate thread about that.
