TSC Bottle Conversion Kit

I really want to stay away from open dishes of water, to cut down on both cleaning and spilling.

And I read on a post here that some people have used rabbit waterers. So I thought this would be a fairly cheap option.

When my chicks were little we tried a nipple waterer. We saw lots of birds at the fair with them and loved the idea of clean water. I had bought a tiny little nipple waterer, made for parakeets, and once we showed a couple birds how to do it, they loved it. Couldn't keep it filled fast enough for them!

Then I tried larger bottles that each held a liter (and filled from the top

). The ball mechanism must have been too hard and they wouldn't use it.

Now I have some I got online that I will use (just haven't done it yet). As long as they can move the ball with their beaks, and you have the patience to teach them, you will really like them!

I've used the conversion kit for a liter soda bottle from TSC. The kit is fine, but the bottle I used was flimsy. It was hard to get under the spring without squishing the bottle.

My Seramas will use a rabbit water bottle. Test the ball at the end with you finger and see if it's easy to move. Some brands are better than others.

Also, Randall Burkey has a pop bottle waterer that is a little different, more of a little cup. These are cheap and work well.
