TSC Minimum Chick Limit

My local TSC didnt care, they let me purchase 5 bantys last year.

If you don't want to buy 6 *our minimum* straight run chicks from TSC, you can always buy from an online site like mypetchicken.com. You only need to buy 3, and they have many different breeds.

We had to go that route because we can't have roosters and TSC only had one breed available. One that we didn't like very much.

Oh well. Better luck next year.

They told me 6 as a minimum, I paid for 20, took home 27, and 4 ducks. I don't know what I'm gonna do with ducks, but the kids like them.

Our TSC here in NWA (roflmao! I crack myself up) requires that you purchase in quantities of 5. If you want to special order the min is 25...

When I went to get mine they required you get 6 minimum...but after looking into things found they can sell 1 at a time...no more minimums in Michigan!

WHY is there a minimum of six chicks when buying peeps from farm stores? Six is a lot of chickens for someone who wants to try raising a few chickens before buying a whole flock. I only wanted to buy three Easter Egger cheeps to add to my small flock but can't because of the "law". Are there any colored egg layers that are sex-linked so that maybe I can find a local farmer to get three from??

i was same way starting out i wanted like 4 birds well i have 12 now. i wanted reds kids wanted some then wife so i got my 6 reds wife a bantam son another red daughter 2 silkies wich was leghorns and i went back to my local ts instead of one further away and they gave me 2 silkies black skin and all lol. The guy there said here in ny you have to buy 6 chicks or 6 ducks can't do 4 and 2. only exction to this is you can buy 2 ducks 0 chicks but only if the ducks are over 2 months old. i guess someone at a different store got busted by undercover person and they was fined for selling 4 chicks and 2 ducks to the person. Atm i'm looking for easter eggers or any blue/green really for wife but i'm not sure she would be happy if i found one seeing she didnt want chickens to start out even when it was going to be 4 lol.
