Was at good Ol' Tractor Supply last week, and figured I'd pick up a few, hoping for at least a couple of pullets. I have lousy luck so far, so I'm only hoping for a few... there was a tub of Barred Rocks, so I got 3 of those, a couple of light yellow ones that I HOPE are BOs, and a tub of dark colored chicks. This last variety I cannot guess, and are hoping you all can help. These chicks have (or had - they're a week old now) yellowish tummies, black legs, and random white spots on their faces. Here are some pics:
Any ideas?
AND... to make matters worse, I was traveling to a different part of the state today, and on the way home, just _happened_ to stop for a lemon slush at Sonic, and there just _happened_ to be another TSC at that exit. Not that I planned it or anything.
They had a delivery of chicks arrive that very day, and were only marked "assorted reds." There appeared to be several varieties in the tub - the dark RIRs were definitely there, but I was hoping for NHs. There were also several lighter ones, and some with banding. So, knowing my rooster luck, I picked up 6. Any ideas on what they are? NHs? RIR? Something else? They sure are cute...
