My chickens have a coop they have bedding in that coop they have and inside run with the roof open but sides are wrapped
Then a larger run open just fencing
So I need to get a lot of hay?? Twelve ??? Will they freeze to death?
They Will be perfectly fine as long as they're dry. Chickens tolerate cold surprisingly well. It's heat that worries me with them. Plus they tend to get close to keep each other warm at night
They will be fine. If you feel better putting some loose hay or straw down on the floor, do so. It won’t hurt anything. But they really will be fine as long as they can get out of the elements.
You can. Frostbite usually and issue if their exposed to moisture too. I've never done that with mine and good to go. It is amazing how well they do in the cold
