Tumor? Abscess? Wound? On chickens bottom

I agree with @LaFleche here. You really need an avian or farm vet for this one. As helpful as this site is, this is a little bit beyond any of us.

This really needs to be cleaned up and (possibly) surgically closed with a drain added. You don't know what's organs and what's flesh here. I would avoid messing with it and take her to a professional.

Thank you!

That wound is very bad. The skin is eaten away or damaged, and that is the outer fat layer of the abdomen showing through. This can be common in fly strike. Do you see any sign of maggots? Could she have been lying on the ground on wet bedding? Or attacked by a rooster spur or predator? I would soak her in warm Epsom salts water daily and apply plain antibiotic ointment to the wound twice a day. See a vet if possible.

We saw a few maggots in the bath the first day. Nothing since then. We will switch to Epsom salts and ointment until we can get to a vet, thank you very much.

I agree, it looks like damage from Flystrike.

It would be good to re-inspect the wound to make sure all the maggots are gone.
Hopefully you can see the vet quickly.
