Hello,
I have 4 free range pet chickens, they have a coop and are well watched during the day. My one chicken, "Bugsy", just today appears to be limping and her chest seems a bit swollen. She is still eating and drinking and even running with the other chickens. We don't have any avian vets nearby and I was just wondering if she might have a tumor? She is fairly old now, I am wondering if I should be expecting a chicken death or if anything can be done or anybody knows what it could be?

Thanks very much.

edit: she's fine! thanks so much, her chest is back to normal and she's running around. thanks so much, again!

thanks so much. her feet look normal. is there anything I can do for the swollen crop or is it life threatening? thanks.

at roost time, the crop should feel full..
in the morning before they eat, it should feel empty or almost flat.
feel for any lumps.
does she feel thin?

is she actually eating? or just pecking?
sometimes they appear to be eating but are just pecking out of habit..
tho they will peck at grass and sometimes drink water to feel "full"...

do check the bottom of her foot and between the toes for any sores, scabs, or splinters.
check the hip and leg for any injury.
try to confine her to small space with soft bedding and food and water near by to rest the leg.
post back if you find any sore..
and if the crop is not emptying all the way..

or if the lump is not the crop.
