Oh it's giving me the fits! Refiled, rejected and told me to print and send. Well I do not want to print and SEND! However it did accept my state e-file with NO problem!

It was all about my daughter's name and her SSN number and the IRS could not "match" it up. I found out first time, it was the first three numbers that was off. So I resubmit it again. Again rejected, does not match.

Then I figured MAYBE it is due to her name, which she has two middle names. So I re enter her first name and her FIRST middle name with a space in between names AND added her last middle name and her last name. Figured it would take care of the problem and refiled it.......still rejected it! GRRRRRRR! Now Turbo Tax wants to charge me to e-file again! GRRRRRRRRR!

I kept pressing the check error button, comes out clean every time. I double checked her SSN and her name to make sure it is going thru.

How in the world I need to re-file without doing that darn notice saying that IRS is having problems recognizing my daughter. We have H&R Block doing our last years income taxes but they did not put her full name in the print out sheets, just her first name, last name and her SSN.

Do I need to wait until tomorrow to re-efile the rejected efile again. Better make it painless or we will be IN pain refiling it again with a new e-file by paying additional fees. UGH!

If you have already paid the fees for efile, it will not charge again. I have used Turbo Tax for years. Is TT rejecting or Fed Gov? If Gov your only choice is to paper file. You can always call TT and speak to them to ask how to resolve it.

This happens to me every single year, but I go through HR Block not TT. I can e-file my state but not federal. It kicks it back every single time because my daughter's name and SS do not match. Sorry IRS but they DO match, have now for the last 17 years!!! Initially I thought there might be a problem with identity theft when she was little but upon calling the SS Administration and getting the run around for 6 months I found out that even if someone is using her SS # they can't tell me. Really??!! So, every year we e-file and every year it kicks it back and HR Block prints off the forms and we sign and mail.

She has had a job for the last year and will have to file anyway, so it will be interesting to see if she can e-file on her own. I wish I had words of wisdom, but alas, not.

How come H & R Block has NO problems filing dd's name and her SSN???!!! Jeez!

I do remember when I was in the hospital after having her, I filed SS card for her. Waited six weeks for it, nothing came so I went down to the SS office to get another one. Well a week later the hospital issued SSN came in the mail and the one from SS office came in a week later. So I turned in her second SS card BACK to SS office and let them know that my dd will be using her hospital submitted (her original) SS card. All is fine and dandy when we were using her SS number on all of our tax papers.

Now TT giving me problems! It is the Fed Gov, not the state. All because of a stupid error I made on dd's first three SSN and not knowing about the middle name issues. I think Turbo Tax need to put some kind question to the processor if the child has more than one middle name. Oh the aggravation!

Got it save in my computer and need to print it out but having problems with laptop trying to communicate with the printer.....it just won't print even with the downloaded. Will try again and see if we can efile again and if not, then we will have to print it out and submit it in the mail.

I love the fact that TT is easy to use but pain in the royal butt when trying to e-file. It would make me wonder when the technology changes in ten years, when they go paperless, folks are doing e-files and mistakes DO happen and they sure ain't making it easy for us!

If it's being rejected by the IRS, it's because what they have on file doesn't match what you put in, not that Turbo Tax is stopping you. TT just uses whatever you put in there and is the messenger when you get rejected. They shouldn't charge you to attempt to resubmit, though, because it was never totally submitted the first time. You need to get out your DDs actual SS card and type it exactly as they have it. I used to do taxes and this was a VERY common issue. If her two middle names take up more spaces than TT allows, use all of them up (even if it leaves part of the second middle name off) and try it that way. I can tell you, though, if her two middle names are very long, there's a chance that you'll get kicked out just because you can't type them all in because they can be picky and say that without ALL of the letters, they can't verify it's really her (which is baloney, but it's the IRS). That happened quite a bit when we were in HI because two middle names are common and so are long names.

Good luck

Sorry your having trouble with efiling. It did reject mine the first time this year too. Because of a first time home credit they could tell by my ss and I have to start paying back this year. I sat around for a while and then decided to go in and look and it does have the right form in tt. I just never went in there. It looks like you are getting the credit again not paying back but once you are in that section it asks what you are doing. Those refunds don't start to get processed till the 14th though....we will see if it takes it then.

I would try and efile again. Did you put your daughters info exactly the same as H/R did maybe that will help? If you have to set up another account and reenter everything instead of paying the fee or maybe you can try the next day again.

I hope it all gets worked out.

First time I got the email saying it was rejected because IRS could not match name with her SSN....come to find out that the first three ss numbers was my hubby's first three numbers. GAH!

So I went back to correct her SSN and went to file again....again, IRS could not match name with her SSN, so I added my daughters first name and first middle name, Mary and then on the middle name box, I put in Elizabeth. BAM! Still rejected.

So the last resort is to do is to put in what H&R Block did, just her first name and her SSN. That is what I am going to do tomorrow, by using her first name and her first middle name. We will see!

I looked at the state, oops, they have her wrong SSN so would it have to be amended or just let it slide for now because she is a minor?

Oh what a mess I've made! I thought TT would help because they found no errors but the IRS did. Oh well, it's my fault tho.

Part of learning!

Sorry I can't show you in person...lol.

I guess maybe you can call after a bit on the state return and have them fix it if they will or ask them what you need to do to fix it.

Good luck!

I wonder if you called the IRS if they could tell you or you verify what they have and enter that so it matches. Ask why it keeps being rejected if they know? Before submitting one last time.
