I'm thinking of ordering some Turken chicks from McMurray. If anyone has any pictures of some adult or young Turken's from McMurray, please post them. I'm curious as to what mine might look like.
I ordered 2 naked necks from MM (I ordered small cause I wanted to see MM naked necks) . 1 boy and 1 female, they gave me 2 males and 1 female. All 3 where were red. The 2 males were big, the girl is small but I like her.
If your ordering from MM there males are good meat birds but there hens lack size.
We love our McMurray Turkens. Hands down the most friendly, best layer, and best roo we have! We are at a 89% hatch rate out of our rooster in a hova bater so I'd say he's done well, lol. We hatched both of them out of eggs ourselves this past spring and they have grown the best.
Mine are red. The rooster is a very pretty bright red (more orangish, not like the RHR's), and The hen is a pretty lighter red/orange. Like a strawberry blonde color.
I have had their NN's several times in the past 10 years and they were reliable layers, very friendly and handled the hot and cold extremes around here pretty well. I must say the solid black one that I had was a poor layer, but the other colors were better with good sized eggs. Did I say VERY friendly????
Thanks so much for all the replies. I am definitely ordering some NN's from Mcmurray for delivery this spring. I ordered from Mcmurray last year and was very pleased with my chicks. I ordered 36, I got 39, and they all survived. I hope I have that same experience this year too.
