Our chicks are about 13 weeks old now....we have 2 turkens and I assumed they are both female (they are supposed to be). But I was looking at them last night and I noticed that one has no waddles and a small comb and not much red, but the other had red waddles and a redder larger comb. If it were a male I could TELL by 13 weeks right? Or no? They are almost identical (other than coloring) leg size, height, weight, tail feathers....just the above facial features made me wonder. These are our first chicks....so we are new at this still....

Hi Sarah,

You are soo lucky! I love turkens but a fox got both of mine a couple of years ago.

Is there a way for you to post pictures here? It would help immensely if we could actually see them. Some hens develop faster than others and some roosters develop slower than others so they could both be girls -Or a boy and a girl - but hard to say. I've never had a male turken but I did have a rooster that didn't crow until almost 6 months old if you're going by that. Enjoy those chickens!!!
