Turkenstein25's Turkey Talk for 2015

Turkey eggs in the incubator just went on lock down! We are having wicked storms all week, so I've got an insulated blanket and hot water bottles (can heat a pan of water on the grill) on standby in case the power goes out.

Sounds great! I wish you the best and hope the storms calm before they reach you and that you don't lose power.

I know when broody's raise chicks they are hard to handle since the momma teaches them to stay away from us. I don't think I would re-home a good broody they are hard to come by.
I have a few hens that don't want to be messed with and that is ok cuz I have so many that want attention. :)

That is true...and she is my only broody hen...the ones I incubated and brooded like attention...

Thank you! Her first hatch was 14 beautiful chickies! She has 2 pullets that are frizzles like her...the offending cat was sent over the rainbow bridge so that won't be an issue this time! It was caught "red handed" so to speak squirming out of their run with a chick in it's mouth! Miss Dixie and her roo Romeo make great parents!

The blue frizzle is one of theirs that I hatched in the EHAL...I'm hoping it's a pullet but that comb is so red! She is blue/black with red lacing on the tips of the feathers! (At least I hope it's a she!)

Rainbow bridge! What happened to the "River Styx"?

My hen is hatching out her second clutch of eggs. These were in the refrigerator for 2 months, so I was not very hopeful that they would actually hatch out. But right on schedule, we already have one out and dried and more hatching. These eggs have survived being refrigerated, rained on, etc. Survivors for sure.
