Very sad news.
It has been raining nonstop in my area and it appears that water got in my coop and onto the light causing the bulb burst. I think this most likely happened sometime during the night because this morning two of the four turkeys were dead. The other two are okay and I have water-proofed the coop now so hopefully this will not happen again. I just hope that this doesnt affect the other two.
Goodbye Jenni-O and Ham--you wil be missed.

Aww that’s so sad!
I keep all my chicks on black or dark brown towels for the first week or so (easy to clean and I’ve acquired a big stack), and sprinkle a handful of feed on it for the first couple days. Since it’s super easy to see they naturally want to pick at it and learn very quickly what food is.

That is a very good idea. I may place a dark colored cloth or towel around the feeder with some food on the cloth. I am getting two new poults to replace the two I lost. Thank you for the suggestion.

Good luck! Just try to use better quality towels, if they’re cheap the birds toenails can get tangled in them. I love thrift stores for repurposed chicken stuff!

I think that I have some scraps of fabric that are dark colored so I may use those instead so that doesn't happen.
