Put your turkey poult in a container such as a cup that prevents its legs from being able to get behind it. Make sure that you are providing proper nourishment such as a high protein turkey or game bird starter.

It should only take a day or two for the poult to be able to start standing and walking.

This type of behavior typically happens because the poult was assisted in hatching.

Hi thanks for your reply, great mind must think alike,I did this just after I joined this morning, the only problem is it has not stopped chirping,I don’t know if it is in pain now it has its weight on it or he just doesn’t like it,I am going to give it a couple more hours and if it is still chirping loud,i am going to put it in a chair so it’s feet are off the ground, see how that goes, when in my hand it pushes faward really hard nearly jumping out, don’t know if one off it’s legs are damaged or not,Any advice is welcome
Many thanks
Andy

The chirping has nothing to do with pain. It has apparently already bonded with you and is calling for attention. The chirping is only going to get worse especially if you reward it by paying attention to it every time it calls.

Hi I took chick out this morning and it just fell faward and has legs still behind it .my wife thinks I am fighting a losing battle,But it still eats and drinks ok at the moment so I will carry on with the chick, do you think I should put it back in glass today, I have took it out at the moment it’s just gone to sleep, legs are still strong as it still can nearly jump out off my hand when holding it,

Noisy aren't they!!! I call it my "Turkey alarm" :lau
Yes they are noisy,it actually makes me giggle as have 2 in separate cages in are lounge,The wife can be watching telly soon as I walk in they start and the sound goes up on telly,we have had all are chicks so far in the house kids pick them up and sit watching telly with them,

I though I was the only crazy person with turkeys in their house :lau turkeys are the best! My kids love them too, one of my 1month old turkeys considers himself to be a Turkey toupee :lau he's always sitting on someone's head

I've been waiting for my neighbour's to knock on my door and ask me to change the batteries in my smoke alarms.. MEEP MEEP MEEP :lau:lau
