How old is the putative poult/jake(?) ? Does the turk `strut' or attempt to strut for over a minute at a time? Jennies/hens will attempt to maintain the `pose' but they don't possess same ratio of low O2 dependent type of muscle at the base of the retrices that allows the jakes and toms to `fan the sky' with their tail feathers for extended periods.
I discovered, quite inadvertently, that the jakes will attempt to gobble (pretty sad sounding) when I'm whistling. Any other very loud, unusual sound might elicit a practice session.
