turkey coop

My turkeys roost in the rafters of my hay barn. It is a big building, standard for a hay barn. They fly 20 feet up to get into the rafters and they love walking along the support beams and diving you from above when you come out in the morning to feed them. They are free range at my place. My livestock guardian dog now keeps the far rangers much safer. The back yard is about 3/4 acre, then there are an easy 3 acre field to the south and sometimes they roam the 30 acres to the west. They mostly don't bother the neighbors. Mostly....

Only blizzards will keep turkeys in, but they do love the structural beams, and it's very open up there. We made a bale igloo for the livestock guardian.

Love the igloo :thumbsup
the roof bales are held up by a bent up gate, one of those 12 footers. Works really well and the doggy is very snug. He likes to perch on top of it sometimes to get a good vantage. He loves his babies, the turkeys, the chickens, the goats, and the horses are all his buddies now. I still have to have some play time for him because he just turned a year old and gets bored because he cant play with his babies, so Apollo and I spend time with him. Apollo hangs out a few hours a day, and I spend some training time with him and give him a brush with an old horse curry comb.
