Turkey coop?

We needed to act quickly with our first hatch. Three hens that we bought started to lay straight away. We made two nesting boxes. One from a cardboard box and the other was a plastic laundry basket. We put straw in both. Tips from BYC members. They worked fine.

Next time we will be ready . The hens and eggs will have similar nests in a coop separate from the other adult turkeys. They made no problems this time but are heavy footed. The newly hatched poults and one broody were moved out to separate quarters as soon as hatching finished.

I use large plastic cat carriers. They clean up easy. Much better than wood. I secure them down so they don't flip over. I use pine shavings to keep the eggs clean.
