Turkey delema. Should i try to hatch eggs or should i buy from a hatchery

I am running into the same problem here in MS. I would love 5-6 heritage breed turkeys. I put an add on craigslist and no one replied. Seems there are virtually no heritage breeders in Mississippi!
I guess I am going to have to order fertile eggs and have them shipped. I work really hard for my income (like most people), so I hope I don't waste my money on scrambled/shipped eggs.
Any recommendations on who to order from?

There are aeveral breeders here on BYC who are selling heritage breeds. You should check out the Buy/Sell/Trade forum, I believe it's under the 'Other' section for the turkeys. You can click on the persons profile and the. Look at their trader feedback for feedback from members who did business with them. Other that that I would aimu advise to try and choose someone as close to you as possible. eBay is a bit more of a long shot, no way to really know whether you will get what you pay for. I just took a chance and bought eggs on eBay from someone whom I messaged and spoke with. The seemed to really know what they were talking about and were not too many stayed away so I purchased those instead. We will see if they hatch, I just set them yesterday. Good luck!

Thanks to both of you for your advice and recommendations. I did order 6 bourbon red eggs from a BYCer. (And 12 guineas) I can't even begin to say how excited I am! Here's hoping for a gentle shipment and a great hatch!
