Turkey ducks

Well, I just got those pics off the net by typing in Turkey Ducks. I don't know if that is what the ones on his property look like. He described them as huge birds with Turkey like feathering, and facial features, except with a duck bill and duck feet.

they sure sound like one in the same as Muscovies..

Those are Muscovys. their meat is supposly like veal or young beef. I haven't eaten one of mine yet, but they are very nice ducks to mave around. Very good fly control and they don't quack, they make very little noise really. The females do fly, but they usually just circle the yard and land up high to survey thier domain. The males are to heavy to fly.

I think Mobert and Gumby are really cool looking, in their own special way. Course, I love turkeys, so the "look" is one I really like.

There are a lot of public area duckponds around here with wild populations of muscovies. I once saw one that looked like Darth Maul's twin.

I remember my Dad when I was young would always buy turkey ducks for Thanksgiving & they are delicious especially if you like dark meat!
