A friend gave me a Turkey egg on the 10th. She got it from her neighbors who have Turkeys but were moving. Long story.

No idea how far along in the process it is or if it was ever too cold or too hot for any length of time before I got it…

Brought it home and put it on a heating pad (temp tested around 99 deg).

Bought an inexpensive incubator and candler on Amazon.

Had the egg at around 99 deg and the incubator had no humidity monitor but did have a water reservoir.

I have NO idea what I’m doing. The egg is so dark!

The egg doesn’t seem like it’s changed at all since I got it, then again I was using a super small flashlight the first few days. Might have gotten lighter around the air cell?

Passed the “float test”. Didn’t sink or float. 15% above water the rest below.

I see no movement.

I don’t want to toss out a baby chick to die but I also don’t want a rotten egg exploding on me…

Pictures included. Any help appreciated!!!

Does it move around when you tap the egg? How long was it incubated?
Oh I’ve had it in the incubator (not on the heating pad) since Thursday. When I got the egg it was pretty cold. Temperature outside was in the 90’s during the day but 80’s when I picked it up.

How much longer should I keep it?
I don't think it will explode today. I had an infertal egg under a broody for 8 days without it exploding. In the end I took it from under her. And as for eggs in the incubator it is kinda the same. So I’d say leave it there for today and mabye someone else will join in and answer your question.
