Will a early spring hatched turkey lay in the fall? What is the age of laying for a Royal Palm??? Our tom is gobbling so we wondered if they might lay soon or if there seasonal?

Usually breed: March - April. Lay from late April - July. However, our Royal hen was hatched out in early June and laid her first egg in early December. Laying continued intermittently until May, when both she and the Slate hen got serious about brooding.

Usually, if you keep removing the eggs as they are laid (if you just want the eggs) they'll continue to lay. Otherwise they `clutch-out' at 10-15, then it becomes difficult to check for additional eggs without being attacked

as they are serious brooders (hiss like snakes, bite like the dickens).

They bite harder than chickens. I had a Bourbon hen that was laying last winter. We lost a lot of eggs due to her laying while we were gone and the eggs being found after they had frozen and busted.

We lost an early hatch of turkeys when we got hit with the big ice storm that knocked out power out for 4 days and the incubator died. This year I am prepared with a backup generator.
