Turkey eggs

I have one female laying and have 12 eggs ,how many days should I collect to keep before incubating ?

I would say start incubating asap! 12 eggs would represently say 16 to 18 days, depending on how many eggs she lays weekly.

I would accumulate no more than say 8 to 10 days of eggs for incubation. Is the hen sitting on the nest after she lays the eggs....Some may already be developing if that is the case. I would candle some of these eggs and see if they are developing.... If yes, I would try to decide how far along they might be. If they are far along, I'll leave for mom to hatch and take the underdeveloped eggs.

Hope this has been helpful and praying you have a great hatching/incubating experience. We love our Bourbon red flock....Let me see if I have a pic to share, we're selling eggs, hatching, and waiting!!!!!!

Happy Easter from our farm to your household!

She hasn't had chance to sit as I've been taking them off her since she laid 2 and she has been laying every day ,it's cold here so I did n't want the eggs getting damaged by frost

Okay thanks for the laying information. I would proceed to incubate with what you have on hand. and then collect another say 8 eggs and do a staggered hatch. Great luck and Happy Easter!

I am thinking something is really wrong with my turkey. she is a bourbon red also and is not laying as far as I can tell. she is about four years old and has only ever laid a dozen or so eggs in her whole life. she just drops them from the roost and has never made a nest of any sort. dont want to hatch but would love the eggs to blow out and keep. getting really frustrated with her.

Goodness, that is a challenge to catch those eggs from the roost.... Have you tried making big mounds of hay under her normal roost location to help catch the eggs. If you really want tthose eggs you could be foam like pillow forms or mattress foam and cover it with straw or hay to catch the eggs.......That is a low number of eggs for her..... it may be that the eggs are crashing and something else is eating them? Does she free range???? Just wondered if she might be laying the eggs out there somewhere and you haven't seen them. The other possibility might be an egg snake or something else like an opposum that is coming in to eat the eggs............. Good luck
