These are the Wishard Bronze eggs I had shipped.

2 peeps so far, 11 eggs to go!

I don't know why 2 hatched, they aren't scheduled to pip until Tuesday. They must be in a hurry.

A.T. they are in turning trays (which were shut off on Saturday) I read that shipped eggs have a better hatch rate if they are kept upright. Is that the wrong thing to do?

I hatch in egg cartons myself so keeping them vertical (and immovable) works fine. My only concern would be giving them something to stand on when they're out of the egg. I leave space between the cartons for them to flop around in. But if yours worked out OK then it's OK.

You may want to let them dry out and fluff up a bit more before taking them out of the incubator.

This was a learning experience, I will use egg cartons next time. They really didn't have a place to go after they hatched so I took them out early.
Now I'm wondering if I should put the rest of the eggs in a carton but they're so close to hatching I don't want to mess things up.

*sigh* I'll know better next time and if these guys all hatch it will be in spite of me not because of me.

If they haven't pipped yet, I would take out the turner and put the eggs down on the floor. That way they can have a good floor to stand on and you can let them dry in the bator before you take them out. I think we all have had a few hatch early like that before. Usually happens if the temp runs a bit hot or the eggs were not picked up in a timely fashon and the hen sits them a few days.

For the ones that haven't hatched yet I'd pull the turner, put them into egg cartons with a few inches of space between each carton, mist them lightly with water to bring the humidity back up quickly, then close up the box again to bring it back up to temperature. You should be OK.
