My turkeys got into a fight, the younger one to try to overtake the throne from the older one, the older one survived and the younger one is going to get eaten as punishment. But the older ones eye is closing up after the fight, will it heal on its own or is it best to do something about it? It's other eye is fine apart from cataracts.

You can use some saline or an eye wash, such as Bausch and Lomb Eye Relief to flush the eye, followed by applying a dot of either Terramycin eye ointment, Vetericyn eye gel, or plain Neosporin triple antibiotic ointment twice a day to the eye. I would hold food and water and mushy wet feed up to the beak to make sure your turkey gets enough to eat, especially since the other eye has a cataract. Can you separate the turkeys? Are they both makes? It may be normal behavior for the junior one to challenge the older one if they are males.

The tom luckily has enough energy to walk around and eat food and drink by itself but I will administer some eye treatment as u suggested. They are both males and are already separated, and yes it is normal to challenge eachother but the other one has also mated a hen to death so it is best he is taken care of. Thanks for the reply
