I posted this in the guinea thread but also going to post it here for my fellow turkians.....

Hi!

I have a turkey hen and a guinea that have been at each other for a couple of days. Yesterday I caught the guinea in a net and just held it there for a timeout about 4 min.....it seemed to help for a time.

Last night my hubby did lock up duty and didn't realize that the guinea and turkey were in the same pen.... (I have a chicken coop connected to the turkey coop and they mix up every night)

I just went out to let them out for the day and noticed that the guinea had cornered the hen and was on it's back attacking it. I shooed it off and chased it away so I could take a look at the hen. She just stood there in the corner and I knew something wasn't right..... anyhow, she's got a bloody eye area and her waddle is too....they must have been fighting all night.

This is the first this has happened and I'm not sure what is going on. Hubby says to axe the guinea.... I don't wanna.

I'm going to seperate the turkey hen to a pen and maybe throw some eggs in a nest and see if she sits on them while recovering. Not sure if this is a good idea but I'm so overrun with turkey eggs that I don't know what to do with them. I've got 3 poults that hatched a couple of weeks ago and 8 more under a broody hen that are due Sun/Mon....I've got 4 dozen of them sitting on my counter that I have to do something with.
(anyone need bourbon red hatching eggs? lol)

Anyhow, I can't figure out what is going on and would like some feedback on what could be the problem???

Thanks so much!

Update.... still not sure why they don't like each other for some reason....they seemed to get along before....

Anyhow, somehow they were locked in the same pen overnight and now my hen looks like she went thru a boxing match.... she's got the whole left side of her face black/blue, swollen and her eye is sealed shut......dried blood on her neck and head... some brusing on her right side face but thank The Lord her right eye is open so she can at least see.....

I quaranteened her so she doesn't get picked on by the guinea.....not sure what to do about her beat up face.....I'm sure she is hurting some from this.....

Hopefully if I just let her be....she will heal on her own. She doesn't seem to happy and keeps calling to her best friend (another turkey hen) who answers her back but they both are sure missing each other.
