Hello my turkey hen has been out away from the tom now for about a week and I have no idea were the tome has disappeared to I couldn't find him any where well as he is about an hour out the road because he was roosting on a garbage truck and hoped off at someone's house and I was wondering how long a turkey hens eggs could still be fertile after being with out a tom she has been away from him for about a week and she laid an egg today but it cracked and I cooked it for my dog and I didnt see anything but she is pregnant and before when the tom was still with her he was finding the heck out of her. I made her a nice dark dog kennel with a tarp rapped around it because the chickens nesting boxes are to small. So will she go broody if I leave her eggs in the nesting box dog kennel and will they still be fertile but being at a new home with chickens has been stress full so she hasn't laud many eggs so the sperm hasn't went any where that I know of.

If turkey hens react like chicken hens, she should maintain high fertility for two weeks, moderate fertility for three weeks, and possible fertility up to 4 weeks after last time she was mated.

If she was with the tom for a couple weeks and they had several successful matings.

There is the potential for her to be fertile for possibly the entire season.

Once she goes broody there is the chance she will no longer be fertile.

I would let her keep laying in the box.

The hens I have have all gone broody.

But each hen has there own magic number before they go.

I had one that would go broody on as few as 3 eggs.

Avg nest 8 to 14.

Ya well that's the plan but if the chickens would stay out of her box but once she lays I could close the gate to her dog kennel nesting box with lots of straw
