I have two bronze turkeys less than 2 months old living with six chicks of about the same age. They all get along very well but i've been told that they cant live together in the same coop. do i need to build and fence in another coop for the turkeys? Do the chickens need to be fenced in or will they naturally stay on my 3.5 acres?

Why where you told you can't keep them together? Is it because of Blackhead desease in your area? Many of us keep our turkeys with our chickens. I keep Turkeys, Ducks, Geese, Peafowl, and chickens together in one coop. This includes some small birds too. Some babies, bantam ducks and bantam, chickens. I give them enough space that they are not bothered by anyone. I use a six foot fence around the coop. I would never let my chcikens or turkeys out anywhere that was not protected from preditors. When mine free range they are still fenced in a 6 acre area. That would only be durring the day. Everyone is locked up at night until late morning.

My turkey makes it just fine with the chickens. She's a pet, and I think SHE thinks she's just a big chicken.

If they are living togather now then they will be fine! The chickens will probabbly stay within the 3.5 ac's but the turkeys will not. My bronze roam about 30 ac's

I was told that the turkeys would bully the chicks & peck their feathers off. They get along great & dont even fight when I hand feed them. I'll just keep an eye on them. I agree. the turks propably think they're just big chickens. Thanks for the replys!
