I just got a pair of (she called them Wild domestic) turkeys, I have never had turkeys before and would like any helpful information. Thanks!

Yep, eastern wild turkey- er wild here. I do not know if this type of Turkey is like the Narragansetts but you do not want to allow them to be in with your birds as they hold grudges.
My poor roo stood his ground with the hen Turkey and next day she grabbed him and just like an old lady washing her laundry on the rocks at the river, this is what she did to him! Seeking him out even!
That threw me for a loop, I wanted to laugh, but I feared for his life.
Good luck, if you eat them, they will be all dark meat, no white.
They seem like they could be a nice breed of bird.

At first I did have them in with my chickens, while i getting their space readied. My roo was freaking out on my hen. I thought tom might gat mad, so I had to move them pretty fast.

Now Sarge, (roo) will stand at the edge of his pen, and crow at Tom, and Tom stands at the edge of his pen, and gobble right back.

I did intend to breed them for eating.

They seem to be pretty gentile. They came from a nice family, and they let me pet them, and pick them up-when I had to move them.

Actually the Eastern Wild Turkeys do have white meat breasts and wings while the thighs and legs are dark. My son took a jake yesterday morning during the Youth Turkey season and we had fried turkey breast nuggets last night and we are eating turkey and dumplings made with the legs and thighs today.

What do they like to eat? They get turkey feed of course, and bread, but any thing special? I'd like great meat, but not fatty, for Thanksgiving.

Let them get out and range in green grass. they love eating bugs and what ever else they can find. I plant alot of clover for the birds to eat. They love it and so do all the bugs. If you let them get out and range they will taste the best, compared to if they are not. Feed them at night their feed and let them get their own through out the days.​

how about hints about incubating eggs. i have 3 in the bator right now...they are in with a mix of chicken eggs, since I only have 1 bator right now.

At what times are good to candle, and stop turning on which day. That sort of thing

i know i've seen them on here before, i'm wanting to build another incubator/hatcher. Got any good ones??
