Which chicks tend to have the higher survival rates?

What steps would I need to take to make sure mama has the best chance of successfully raising poults?

Can two broody hens raise their babies in the same run or should they be separated?

Had two broody's share a nest last year and they shared mama duties and all of the poults survived. I've never had a problem with broody hens sharing the same run to rear the younguns but I would prefer to have seperate pens for each brooding mom. Gobblers with young poults is what you need to keep a weary eye on.

A: All should have good suvival rates. the Great Whites, and BB bronze can be a little difficult to get started though.

What steps would I need to take to make sure mama has the best chance of successfully raising poults?

A: Have them in a preditor resistant pen, Hope the eggs are layed in warmer weather, have a incubator ready just incase.

A: yes, but there is always the outside change, they may not, so you may want to plan on having seperate pens set up or material handy where you could do another pen quickly.

A: Storey's book are usually good. but you may run into a few situations not covered int he book, of the method used in the book does not fit you situation.

Oopps. Sorry. I meant between chicks that are raised by their mother or chicks that are raised in the brooder. (was having a hard time being clear yesterday.)
