Hello all, After about 6 weeks, we moved my boy's 2 turkeys outside to their new coop and run. The turkey run project that should've taken an hour or so luckily only took 6 1/2 hours with my boys help!;)

Anywho, they are 2 6+ week old broad breasted turkeys that seem mostly feathered out. My question is as i'm reading a few contradicting things on this. Do they need a heat lamp still? It's gonna be about 60 degrees tonight?

Thx

I'm not sure... Have they had the heatlamp on? What has the temp been in their area with or without it? I am no expert, but I think that info may be helpful if one shows up.

I've been running the headlamp 24/7 until it got above 80, then left it off. I'm in Ohio, and its been unseasonably warm since february.

I'd keep on with the heat lamp until they are fully feathered out at around eight weeks, especially if the nights are damp or foggy. At eight weeks you should be able to leave it off if they are roosting some place that is dry and out of the wind.

During the day once it's up to seventy five or so you can turn it off so long as they are staying dry.
