Turkey Poult Being a Turd

That's too bad, turkeys, and guineas are expensive. I would expect there's something wrong from the hatchery end of it, especially with multiple deaths like that. Sometimes it seems people just get a bad batch, or the transit was too long. Maybe they didn't ship them out as quickly as they should have, that would be my guess.

Another guinea just passed. Feels like none of them are going to ever get to see outside. Was going to start rebuilding their outside coop this weekend but at this rate I probably shouldn't waste money on new plywood...

Maybe they were waiting on the turkeys to hatch to send them out... they said they hatched 8/9 and I picked them up at 7:45am at the post office on 8/11.

Sounds very similar to symptoms (and death) some guineas, a chick and a poults had right after being moved to a new brooder - turns out it was too hot for them. Can you try turning the heat down or off to see if things improve? Even if you just take a couple out to see what happens.

House is 65 so doubt they'd do well with no heat... I did check first thing this morning they were at right around 90... they weren't too piled up so I've left it at that for now.

One of the turkeys died overnight... I've lost 10 of my 22 guineas as well. If anyone has insight please help... Really disheartening to do everything right and get attached and have spent so much money and have them dropping like flies... fine one minute then dead the next.

Check the date on the feed. And look see if it is moldy or smells funny. Have you actually seen them drinkin water? Like every single bird? Are they eatin any of the paper? Maybe they need grit for the random bits of things they pick up. Also.. for necropsy. Try your local state lab. They usually do them on the cheap.

Feed was milled 3 weeks ago and smells fine. I've got them all on corid since the hatchery said it's probably coccidia and lots of guineas have flares after shipping. They did refund the money for all the pearl guineas so it makes me suspect if they knew something was bad with that line... or at least had a propensity to coccidia.

The turkeys are all eating and drinking, the guineas are mostly eating and drinking but am not 100% sure all of them do drink so I've been forcing water 1-2 times a day. Lowered their temps to about 92 since they hit one week today.

I've got a local organic chick starter I've been feeding with additional egg yolks on top (and providing some chick grit).

Now to clean up the guineas' diarrhea bums...

You certainly have been having a rough time. I know others have mentioned brooding temperatures. I personally have always brooded my turkeys hotter than my chicks. They start out at about 95 the first week and go down 5 degrees a week. I don't think your temperature was off for the turkeys at least.

I'm glad to hear they are reimbursing you for the guinea. I haven't raised any so I can't comment on the species and their care.

I would almost seriously think about buyin a new bag of feed from another source and see if that helped any. Somethin could have been in the feed.

I've switched to a different feed from a different company and been supplementing with egg yolks since it's lower in protein. I raised up the waterers since I noticed today they pooped a bunch in it. So I've been re-making corid in the water twice a day and cleaning up or throwing a new paper towel on their poopy/sleeping areas so they don't eat or sleep in waste. I think I need to buy stock in paper towels (glad I have the Costco pack). The turkeys are drinking lots on their own and having solid formed poos but I've been dropper-ing water into the guineas every few hours. 4 of the guineas have terrible diarrhea and I've already bathed them off once today. Meanwhile the turkeys are peeping at me and trying to fly.
