Hello, new to the forum and hoping to learn something new. We've purchased our new birds for the season and one of our poults(royal palm turkey) has something wrong with his right eye. We bought him when he was 3 days old from Odyssey Ranch located in lancaster. ca we didn't notice it at first but when we got him home his eye was swollen and he/she kept it closed for the most part. This bird is now almost 5 weeks old and still dealing with the issue. We have treated him for eye worm to be safe and the rest of the flock but nothing has changed. The swelling is in the eye, the eye is clear. Any ideas?
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to BYC. I know very little of turkeys, but your picture makes it look as though the pupil is very dilated (large) and that the eyeball itself is abnormally large. Is the left pupil dilated too? Hopefully some turkey people will read your post and know enough to help you.

Yes. The pupil is very dilated, and the eyeball itself is very large. I was thinking maybe the eye was like that as a birth defect maybe?
But also possibly dislocated?

That's my best guess. Other than the eye issue, it eats and drinks and flys with the other birds.

My Blue slate turkey poult is going through the same thing!
But he isn't eating or drinking, all he wants to do is curl up in the corner and sleep :(

I got turkey poults from a feed store, Blue Slates, and all of them were fine but my sister, who was holding the box saw one of the others peck her (the female poults) eye. It was weird but it instantly swelled up just like the OP’s turkey. And as of yesterday (over a week later) now the other is the same way. Both enlarged eyes, dilated and no eye leakage. Can the eyes be out of socket?
