A few days ago I noticed my serema rooster wasn’t out so I found him hiding with blood on his face and a busted up eye, the next day I noticed his wattles were swollen and I started giving him antibiotics. He has been isolated and has been eating and drinking like normal since it happened. He is opening his injured eye some now and his wattles have less swelling now. Would this have been caused by a fight or is something else going on?

Welcome to BYC. Do you have another rooster or hens/pullets who are bullying him? Is he new, or have you added any new birds recently? The blood and peck marks make me think this is from being beaten up. But swollen eyelid and wattles can swell due to a respiratory disease as well. Is he eating very well? I would try to feed him some dry and wet mushy feed and some scrambled egg twice a day. Make everything watery to get more fluids into him. Clean his eye twice a day with saline and then add a small dab of Terramycin or plain Neosporin eye ointment twice a day. Let us know how he gets along.

He isn’t new to the flock and they were all raised together but they like to pick on him for whatever reason. He has been eating and drinking plenty and never stopped. I have been cleaning and adding ointment to the eye and he is opening it now, whether or not he can see out of it I'm not sure. The pictures were from two days ago so he is in a little better shape now, just wanted to show how bad it was at first. I was researching the swollen wattles and I was seeing a lot about fowl cholera which has me very worried. No other chickens have any signs of issues so I hope he just had a disagreement with another chicken.
