Hello

I bought a turkey poult about a week ago. Yesterday when I took her outside to play in the grass she had a twisted leg. She was very active before this so I'm not sure if she slipped or what happened. We have read all kinds of articles and watched some you tube videos and have braced it with a band aid. We gave her electrolytes yesterday and today we gave her some vitamin B12. The brace wasn't working after all day yesterday so we took it off today. It's hard to tell if she's in pain and there is a little swelling but not a ton. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it so much! I am going to try and find a vet that will look at her tomorrow.

If you can post a picture of it, it will help us figure out what you could try.

Offhand, I was thinking of using Vetwrap to secure a popsicle stick to it, but if the poult is small yet, that'd not work.

I'd also give it Poultry Cell water that has all the B vitamins plus others in it that would help with healing in case it's got torn or sprained muscles.

Thank you where do I get poultry cell water?

Human vitamin B complex which has riboflavin and all other B vitamins can be a good substitute. Give a crushed 1/2 tablet daily in food. It could help to see a picture of both legs side by side. Leg bone deformities can be common in meat birds. Varus, valgus deformity, and rotated tibia are common ones. There is usually no treatment for those, but if it is an injury, that may improve with rest.

This is what she looks like we have her on the poultry cell water and have rehobbled her leg with a straw between her hocks to help keep the one out. She is hopping around fine for now and not having problems eating or drinking so I am really hoping the hobble helps correct her leg. It breaks my heart to see her struggling to even walk but if it helps it will be worth it!

That looks like a twisted or rotated tibia leg bone deformity. Those are not treatable unfortunately. If she can get around to get food and water, she may be able to make it with some extra attention. But many can later suffer tendon issues, or not get around. Personally,,I would not hobble her, but let her try to get around on her own. But do what you feel is best.
