My brother's lost 2 adult turkeys so far, another one now has this. It looks like "prolapse". What do we do to save it and how do we prevent this in future? help! only 1 turkey left! The birds are not even 1 year old.

Is there an egg hanging from her backside or does it just look like her flesh hanging out from her vent?

If there is an egg attached to her flesh that is hanging out, you need to remove the egg by soaking it with warm water and gently peeling the skin back from it. Do not cut anything.

Typically for prolapse, you need to get the hen in a darkened area to slow down the reproduction tract. You'll want to use preperation H on your fingers and gently inward and upward push the flesh back inside. You may find that you need to hold it there for a few moments, so have someone help you hold the turkey. It can take several tries before it seems to stay in place, so don't give up hope on the first try.

No eggs. We pushed it in on the last turkey and still lost her a week later. Everything looks really loose. They're not even laying eggs yet!! we don't know what to do to help them.
