Turkey Question

How far will heritage turkeys roam from home. If my eggs hatch and when the poults get old enough to free range I plan on letting them do that but was curious as to how far they would venture from home base.

I have read enough posts on this site about people finding turkeys that wander into their yard that I would never 100% free range. Another problem is turkeys will roost everywhere, and will often hang outside your doors waiting for you. We get wild turkeys that come up to our run. I'm sure a few would follow them out if they weren't penned. I personally would never 100% free range turkeys. Mine free range only when I'm home, and I can keep an eye on them.
