turkey question

When we had to weigh our Blue Slate Tom last year for a worming he was 25-lbs. We think he was 2 years old then. His son at one year looks to be the same size as daddy, but I can't tell you his weight until Nov 23rd (okay, I could go weigh him before the butchering date, but its not fun to be flogged by a possibly 25-lb bird

, he's not mean I just think he would object to being picked up and weighed).

You just have to convince the tom that he wants to be picked up so they don't club you to death with the wings and scratch you with the toe nails. If you ever figure out how to do that please let me know! LOL
I'm going to have a nice scar on my stomach from picking up a Bourbon Red tom about 2 weeks ago - he got me good.

If I look real close I can still see where one of the peacocks got me on the arm last year, at least he is only 20-lbs.

We have peafowl to.... I know that feeling. lol I think the only birds we have that hasn't left a mark or scar yet would be the quail and I think they are waiting to gang up on me when I'm not looking.

On topic,
Turkeys are cool.

We have a palm that was 1 year old this past June. Our 7 year old granddaughter an go into his pen and pick him up. hes hers. We got him to butcher but she claimed him right from the start. She carried him around every day while he was growing up. She used to help me put them into their house each night. Shes the only one who can handle him lol But he has a forever home now
