Turkey runt with deformed wings!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your follow up.  I'm glad your birds got in, but I'm sorry that one of the of the birds is having trouble.  As long as that bird is eating and drinking, it should grow and develop.  However, I will note that you informed us about it.  If we lose it at any point, or it does not develop properly, please let us know and we can compensate you for it.

Thanks,

Austin

So, will you contact them again to let them know that the bird they sent is defective and you need a replacement? I know that I would. ;)

Failure to thrive chickens end up with funny wings as they feather in that look very odd. If this is just a FTT turkey I would sut watch it and see if the feathers are just developing at different rates. I have one silkie genetic mix ( dont know which mix however, ack) that throws FTT chicks. They all survive but they are small ( even for silkies) and feather over months not weeks. They may stay inside over several batches of chicks and get to the grow out pen very late.

Does the chick have the same amount of energy as everyone else in the pen? If so, id just try to tempt it to eat more and watch it.

He seems to have plenty of energy. I have an ecoglow 20 brooder that simulates a sitting hen that they can crawl underneath when they need heat and go out and eat and play when they don't. It stays under there a bit more than his roommates but that's probably because he doesn't have all the feathers they do. He eats and drinks and is even fighting back when he gets bullied now. You cant help but root for the lil underdog or underturkey rather.

He died killed by his roommates. My kids really took a liking to the lil guy and made him a cross and buried it in the backyard with flowers and the whole works. He had a short life but a good one.
