Anyone here use turkey saddles for their breeding hens?
If so did you buy them, and where?

I didn't hatch enough hens this year, and my tom to hen ratio will be 1:1
so I am thinking the hens might need some protection during breeding season.

Sounds like that ratio of Toms to Hens that would be a great idea.

As John Wayne would say you better saddle them hens up Pilgrim

.

Here is a web site on how to make them you could also do a google search for buying them.

We are new to turkeys, but not sure if it would help, keeping spurs trimmed yes. unlike chickens, the hen has to accept toms advances and he has to balance carefully on her back, i would be afraid the saddle would slip and he might fall off and not "complete" his duties.

No spurs on my toms yet, they are too young, maybe by Jan-Feb they'll have spurs.
I'm going to try the saddle approach just to be on the safe side.
Next year I'll hatch more hens hopefully.
