Turkey starter for Ducklings

Out here, the game bird feed and turkey starter are the same thing. I feed my ducklings and quail this feed and supplement with greens and whole grains. I would rather err on the side of too much protein than too little. A lot of the information about protein causing kidney damage is total bunk. You can end up wasting a little money, but it isn't going to kill your animals.

Game bird crumbles until 5-6 moths old, then switch to game bird grower pellets. Always provide as much "grazing" as possible.

Got it!

Thank y'all so much...

We agree completely about the spending extra to ensure good health of our babies. This is all just so new to us and we want to make the right decisions. I guess I really need to get to the welcome page and tell my story of why we decided to raise a flock of ducks, in the first place. It is a horrific story and hard for me to even go over again in my own mind. Plus, we needed quick answers and I skipped the welcome forum... THANK GOODNESS for all of y'all on here to guide us!

Oh and I almost forgot..we bought greens today, finally....Cannot wait to give it to them!

Blessings and L.O.V.E.
Pam

Sorry to resurrect an old thread...

The feed store sent me home with a bag of turkey starter (they were out of chicken starter!) for the 4-6 week old ducklings I'm picking up tonight. I intend to offer lots of stuff like peas and kale with grit in addition to the feed. Is this likely to be problematic while I work through the 50lb bag they sold me?
