Turkey talk

I don't use turkey feed. I feed mine an All Flock ration. My poults are raised on chick starter with a daily helping of scrambled eggs to boost the protein.
Feeding hard boiled eggs is good for the poults but it does not boost the protein since eggs are only about 12% protein.

Feeding turkey poults a high protein starter feed is not just about the higher protein. The high protein turkey/gamebird also contains higher amounts of critical vitamins such as niacin and methionine that the turkeys really need for proper growth and development.

I know we differ in feeding choices. My poults grow like weeds and I've never lost a single one. It works well for me. Game bird rations around here are almost always old where chick starters are fresh. I just want to offer a different way of feeding for those who can't get a good game bird ration.

If you are going to feed chick starter to poults you should make sure it is a high quality chick starter. I do not consider 14% to 18% chick starter a quality feed. The chick starter that I use for chicks only is 22% protein.

In order to make up for the lack of proper vitamins in chick starter, one should add a quality vitamin B complex to the drinking water and also be sure that no ACV is added at the same time. You can use 1/2 of a capsule of vitamin B complex (containing thiamine and niacin) to one gallon of water. The water must be changed out daily.

Why do so many people think eggs are high in protein? people say that about peas too.

x2 on the turkey feed. I was amazed at how different their requirement are!
