We kept a turkey in the basement for a day while we were putting together a new enclosure and made a huge mistake! We put down towels which she promptly pooped all over. Four cycles through the washing machine later and the towels are still pretty much ruined. Stinky, stinky! We'll use a tarp next time.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Been there. Done that. Got that t-shirt.

If it's not too late, pouring about a half cup of white distilled vinegar in the rinse water may help to cut the smell and brighten the colors.

Forgive me for laughing, but I am LAUGHING!!!!! Been there soooooo many times!!!!

That's a really good idea. I figured out that the towels were still really bad when my dog wouldn't lie down on one.

One of the peach colored towels turned black in spots.

What is it with turkey poop anyway?

We use old blankets for the first week in the small brooders changing them every couple of days. After the first week they are on small wood chips.

To clean them we use a water hose out side, to spray them down really well before they go into the washing machine.
