I have a badly injured turkey. Skin has been torn from its shoulders and upper wings and back. Also a couple of puncture wounds. I have taken care of wounded animals before but never to this extent of lost skin. Is he savable?

Turkeys are very resilient and can recover from severe injuries. The puncture wounds are the greatest concern. They need to heal from the inside or infection can develop.

I would put Blu-Kote on the bare area. Others might suggest using a salve to keep the area from drying out.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I applied bactine to numb and clean the areas right away and will apply Blu-Kote after he has rested a bit. All my animals are such babies. 😊. I hope he survives he will have a forever home here on our farm. Thank you!
