Turkey with prolapse.

Please if anybody has information on a prolapse on my BBw .i noticed today she has a big red balloon hangin out her bottom.ive tried pushing it back in but wen she poos it pops back out again. I will take her to the vets to Morr .but if anyone has had the same thing would be nice to know.....

Get her into temp. digs where you can keep an eye on her. Keep the area dark (just enough light so she can see), quiet and only provide water. If the tissue remains outside of the body too long, it will dry and then rot. If you have access to a hemorrhoid cream apply when returning everted portion of reproductive tract into hen.

Good luck, this is a difficult condition to deal with for all concerned.

Ahhhhbhad to have her put to sleep poor thing I guess thats BBw for u .comes with the weight ....

Sorry she couldn't be stitched up (though that often doesn't take, either). That your BBW had a good life in your care, for as long as she did, is more than 99.99% of that variety ever gets. We had our own BBB `experience'. They are way too easy going and sociable (more so than the heritage varieties, as a rule) and bred for doom & dinner. We'll never have another. That's not to say the heritage varieties aren't social, they are if imprinted on humans. But they are a bit more `flighty' (literally). Worth the effort though: Better luck to you and yours in the future.

Ahh fanks for that you've made my day..yes I do have 3normal turkeys which I've had for 3 yrs now excellent egg layers and very sleek.
