Turkeys and a chicken!?

We just received our first group of turkey babies, but the hatchery sent us a chicken with them! Can this baby chick survive on turkey food?? I have a flock that's a year old, but she's far too small to hang with them. Will this little baby make it with the turkeys?

I very frequently brood turkey poults and chicks together. Everyone gets the 28% protein turkey game bird starter and the chicks do just as well as the poults on it. You don't want to feed a chick high protein all its life but for the first couple of weeks has never shown any harmful effect to the chicks that I raise.

Thanks so much! My concern is, I don't have any other chicks to raise her with so unless I can find her a home with other like babies, I'm not sure how I might be able to give her separate feed without making her live by herself. My best bet is probably find her a home with a new flock her age? Thanks again!

I normally hatch a few chicks with my poults. It seems beneficial for the poults eating habits to have chicks to imitate. I feed the high protein to both the chicks and the poults while they are in the brooder. Mine are usually only in the brooder for a couple of weeks. When I remove them from the brooder they all get turkey grower which is very close to meat bird grower as far as protein content goes. Some of the chicks spend their whole lives with the turkeys. I would not worry about the chick getting the same food as the poults.
