I'm planning on getting some chicks (are they called chicks?) next spring for thanksgiving and christmas dinner. My question is can I raise them with my ducklings with the same feed and care? Or do they need something different? I confess to not having spent too much time in these forums so this may be a question you answer everyday... it's just not on the first page Second question. Having just read about these monstrous sized turkeys, I don't think I want to go through trying to process something like that. What would be an easier sized turkey to deal with. I had been thinking along the lines of a heritage breed like the narragansett or bourbon red. Are these turkeys more manageable in size? Or do you suggest something else? When is a good time to get these to be ready in time for the holidays?
