Turkeys attacked my chicken?

She died in my arms at 11:24 last night. She started to slightly breath through her mouth and convulse for a few seconds at a time. I was so scared for her. She did this three times and the last time she let out an awful shriek. The guilt I feel for her death hurts me physically. Oh, Maggie.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can sympathize. I lost 9 chickens in the last several days to raccoons, including most of my favorites. My guilt on not keeping them safe is overwhelming!

Turkeys will kill that way -- by very sharp continued pecks to the top of the head. They seem to know how lethal it is. I've seen turkey-caused injuries consistent with what you describe.
